Natural Products

Iznate has a varied gastronomical
tradition based on the natural products harvested from the land and fresh seafood from the nearby coast.


Some typical dishes:

- gazpacho iznateño,
- country salad,
- cold fish cakes with honey,
- callos (tripe soup),
- maimoses soup,
- roast peppers salad,
- roast cabbage,
- ajo blanco (cold almond soup with   garlic),
- chickpea stew with beet greens,
- pumpkin soup,
- pestiños (honey coated pancakes),
- the hornazo - a well known sweet from   the area
- various types of local sausages.


Vino Dulce

Iznate is famous for its moscatel grape tradition. Apart from being dried to 'pasas de Málaga' (sultanas) they are the basis for the local wine.

The 'vine dulce' or 'vino del terreno' is a sweet, smooth flavoured moscatel wine
with a unique aroma and bouquet.
Beware though - its alcohol percentage can be as high as 20°!
